José Pizarro
José Pizarro is a multi-award-winning chef and restaurateur, originally from a village near Cáceres, Extremadura. He trained in several of Spain’s top restaurants before becoming head chef at Michelin-starred El Mesón de Doña Filo in Madrid. José moved to London 25 years ago, working at Gaudi and Eyre Brothers before co-founding Brindisa and, in 2011, launching his own restaurant, José, on Bermondsey Street. He’s since opened several more restaurants in the UK — including Lolo, in London, in 2024 — and internationally. He’s a regular guest chef on BBC One’s Saturday Kitchen, ITV’s This Morning, Channel 4’s Sunday Brunch and James Martin’s Saturday Morning. José is also the author of critically acclaimed cookbooks such as Spanish Flavours, Basque and The Spanish Home Kitchen.
